As one of Australia’s leading and largest steel roll formers, Stramit takes an active approach to sustainability. We take pride in developing work practices that support Fletcher Building's overall goal of achieving a 30% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030.
We demonstrate our commitment in many ways, including but not limited to:
We are actively moving our corporate vehicle fleet from petrol to hybrid vehicles to reduce carbon emissions, increase reliability and improve the fuel efficiency of our fleet nationwide.
Across our sites, we partner with select third-party logistics providers to distribute Stramit products nationwide. Our selection criteria include examining each partner’s commitment to sustainability, particularly fleet age, maintenance programs and efficiency.
Our in-house product design experts lead the way with sustainable design solutions for the built environment. We engineer products that meet the highest Australian standards and withstand Australia’s harshest weather conditions. Our products reduce the embodied carbon cost of the finished building through reduced maintenance and extended product life.
Our technical expertise ensures build partners can optimise the cost of a build with the most robust, durable products and solutions for every project. We use the optimum level of recyclable materials in our products without compromising quality.
We select and roll only the highest quality steel products. Our robust supply chain ensures we work with industry-leading suppliers, including BlueScope and COLORBOND® steel products certified with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The International Organization for Standardization 14025 defines such products as a Type III declaration that quantifies environmental information on a product’s life cycle and its impact on the environment.
We are the only Australian steel roll formers to use ZAM®, with its exceptional corrosion-resistant properties. Stramit products are durable, versatile and offer repurposing opportunities throughout the lifecycle of the building.
We continue to invest, audit and evaluate our roll form processes Australia-wide by:
Addressing climate change is a huge global challenge. We are supported by and committed to the sustainability objectives of our parent company, Fletcher Building. We are committed to becoming the Australian leader in sustainable building materials, construction and distribution, with ambitious goals across six defined areas.
Our target of 30% reduction by 2030 is verified by the Science Based Targets initiative, a recognised international third-party verification body. It is in line with the goals set in the Paris agreement.
Above all, we are committed to promoting a culture of compliance, honesty and ethical behaviour across all our endeavours.
